About our College

 

    Saraswat Degree Mahavidyalaya, a co-educational institution came into existence in the year 1996 with the sustained efforts and active involvement of local people. It is situated at Godbhaga under Kalamati Panchayat, Dhankauda Block, District-Sambalpur.

​

     The institution got its first temporary recognition and affiliation by the Govt. of Odisha and Sambalpur University respectively in the session 1997-98. The D.H.E, Govt. of Odisha accorded its permanent recognition in the session 2003-04 and Sambalpur University also accorded its permanent affiliation in the same session. Moreover, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has been pleased to accord 2f status to the college.

 

    The institution received its opening permission in the subject Political Science (Hons) with 16 seats and got temporary recognition and affiliation by the Govt. of Odisha & Sambalpur University respectively. This subject was permanently recognized and affiliated in the session 2008-09. Later in 2016 govt. of Odisha was pleased to give permission to open Honours Subject in Education (40 Seats), English (16 Seats), History (40 seats), Odia(48 Seats) and Political Science (48 Seats).

 

     The sanctioned strength of the students was also extended from 128 to 192 in the same year. The present student strength of the college is about 600 where the enrollment of girl students is higher than the boys.  At present, it has come under the grant in aid fold covered under GIA 2017, Govt. Odisha​
